Family and Friends Bid Farewell to Dominican Mother and Teacher Found Murdered in Shallow Grave in New Jersey

New Jersey, USA. – Family and friends said their final goodbyes on Wednesday to Luz Hernández the Dominican mother and teacher who was found beaten and strangled in a shallow grave in New Jersey last week, announced the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The funeral will take place in Jersey City.

The father of her children, 36-year-old Cesar Santana, was arrested days later in Florida in connection with the death of 33-year-old Luz Hernandez.

Authorities are also searching for another man who allegedly accompanied Santana. His name is Leiner Miranda Lopez, 26 years old. Both are charged with desecration/concealment of human remains.

Santana was arrested shortly after midnight on Friday at a motel on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami by members of the United States Marshals Service’s regional fugitive task force for South Florida and New York/New Jersey.

Meanwhile, Miranda Lopez has not yet been captured, and anyone with information about him is urged to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.

Prosecutors confirmed on Thursday that the teacher died from blunt force trauma and compressions to the neck, indicating that the case had transitioned from a missing person investigation to a homicide investigation.
