SANTO DOMINGO: Some 74 Dominicans were repatriated on Tuesday by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after serving sentences in US prisons for drug trafficking, homicides, and other federal crimes.

The group, consisting of 67 men and seven women, arrived in the Dominican Republic at the cargo area of the Las Americas International Airport on a plane chartered by ICE.

In order to be processed, the Dominicans were taken from the airport to the Deportee Retention Center in the community of Haina, San Cristobal, by police officers and the General Directorate of Migration.

Reports indicate that the returned nationals had served sentences ranging from 5 to 15 years for drug trafficking, homicides, money laundering, violation of immigration laws, federal false writing, kidnappings, and other minor crimes.
