New York, Unided State, – Pandilleros of Los Trinitarios, Luis Cabrera Santos was sentenced to 12 years in prison yesterday Tuesday for the murder of the Dominican student Lesandro Guzman Feliz on June 20, 2018 in a Bronx Bodega.
Cabrera Santos pleaded guilty after the Bronx prosecutor’s office backed down to modify the original charges that could have led him to prison with life sentence.
The pandilleros sentenced yesterday is the first of five Trinitarios who also agreed with the prosecutors to receive light sentences for the brutal murder of the teenager who was a member of the youth group “NYPD Explorers” where he sought to become a New York police officer.
This occurs more than a month after Cabrera Santos was identified as one of the pandilleros who participated in the murder of Junior after the student was dragged from the inside of a warehouse on 187th street and Bathgate avenue, where the thugs entered after chasing him.
Santos will also have to serve five years of supervised release after serving the current sentence. The other four will be sentenced this Friday in the Bronx State Supreme Court where the case is being heard.
Cabrera Santos pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after being charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
His gang members Danel Fernandez, Jose Tavarez, Ronald Ureña, Gabriel Ramirez Concepcion and Danilo Payamps Pacheco also pleaded guilty. Fernandez will be sentenced to 18 years in prison and the other defendants face sentences of between 12 and 15 years.
In 2019 the first five Trinitarios charged were sentenced to life in prison. Two other defendants who led the Los Trinitarios cell “Los Sures” were convicted in July 2022.
Junior’s mother, Leandra Feliz, has remained opposed to the prosecutors’ negotiations with the pandilleros, saying that all participants in the murder deserved life in prison.
