Bronx, New York. – New York City was rocked by a tragic shooting incident in the Highbridge neighborhood of The Bronx. Juan Lora, a 62-year-old doorman, was shot and killed by his roommate, Angelo Miranda, in the basement of their building on W. 169th street near Plimpton avenue.
The tragic event occurred as Lora was celebrating a modest lottery win of $300. Just hours prior to the shooting, Lora had claimed his prize at a local bodega and was in high spirits as he shared his good fortune with friends.
Celebrating his Lottery Win
According to a close friend and regular at the bodega, Johnny Rivera, Lora was “here and very happy” as he celebrated his win. He had purchased a box of beer for everyone and was spreading joy by tossing ten-dollar bills to his friends.
However, the celebration was short-lived as Lora returned to his home, where he and Miranda got into a heated argument. Although the details of the argument are not clear, friends of the victim indicate that the two men had a prior history of conflict.
Arrest and Charges
The police arrested Miranda and charged him with murder and involuntary manslaughter. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning, as Juan Lora leaves behind two adult children.
