Expert Opinion: Dr. Hammer Roa on the Risks of Using Biopolymers in Aesthetic Procedures

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – Plastic surgeon Hammer Roa warned that the use of biopolymers as a substitute for body fat in aesthetic work constitutes a threat to the health of patients.

The young surgeon stated that in addition to causing infections, the side effects are so severe that the patient’s own life could be at risk.

When interviewed by Elvis Lima on the program Fuera de Record, Dr. Roa urged patients to seek out qualified and certified professionals when undergoing any procedure in order to achieve the desired results.

“Aesthetic surgeries are safe, risks are minimal compared to any other, as long as precautions are taken, and the established protocol is followed, such as a good cardiovascular evaluation, prior to laboratory analysis, radiological imaging (sonography, chest tomography, echocardiography, sonomamography, duplex arterial and venous of lower limbs, spirometry, electrocardiography, and others),”

He also added, after the authorization and recommendations of these different specialists, the surgical procedure is fixed and performed, previously agreed upon in consultation.

Buttocks in men

On the other hand, Hammer Roa revealed that the number of men who come to consult seeking guidance to increase the size of their buttocks has increased in the country.

“Generally, those men are accompanied by their partners, girlfriends or wives, who give them support, also interested in improving their physical appearance,” assured the health professional.
