Ivonne Beras-Goico speaks out on the comparison between her uncle, Freddy Beras-Goico, and Santiago Matías (Alofoke) calling it an “atrocity” in this exclusive interview with José Peguero
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – Communicator Ivonne Beras-Goico gave an interview to journalist José Peguero for his space “Las Exclusivas“, where Ivonne shared her opinion on some topics, where she also qualified as “atrocity” the comparison that is made between Freddy Beras-Goico and Santiago Matías (Alofoke). Assuming that the businessman is “The Freddy of this era”.
“Freddy Beras must be twisting in his grave, with all my respect to Santiago, but he is not an artist,” Ivonne said when asked about her thinking on the comparison, because she understands that there is no similarity between them.
During the conversation, Ivonne made a brief review of her family history and her experience in the media. Daughter of the broadcaster and psychiatrist Máximo Beras-Goico and niece of Freddy Beras.
Ivonne, who became popular for her participation in spaces like “Perdone la Hora”, “Punto Final”, “Buenas Noches Ivonne” and “Grandiosas” which have remained in the memory of the Dominican people, considering Beras-Goico as a reference in her generation of communicators.
“Uncle Freddy put me in china,” Ivonne said, highlighting that being “niece of,” did not guarantee her to have things easy in the media, emphasizing that she had godfathers like the deceased comedian Milton Peláez and the communicator Socorro Castellanos.

Also, the actress criticized the communicators of this era for their lack of preparation; “They haven’t read the coquito book,” mentioned the communicator, who does not generalize, because there are many good ones, but she understands that there is a need for preparation in others.
This is not the first time she mentions this topic, due to the little preparation and concern to form in a new generation of communicators who have only focused on looking good.
She clarified that she has not intervened in the division that exists between her cousins for the inheritance of Mr. Freddy, she understands and respects the positions of each of the parties because they are very intimate and family issues.
Ivonne’s career is not limited to being a television presenter, she also ventured into acting, doing theater and stood out as the antagonist of the Dominican-Peruvian telenovela “Trópico” (2006) in that story she shared credits with José Luis Rodríguez “El Puma”, Scarlet Ortiz and Víctor González.
Despite being away from the media, Ivonne expressed her desire to return to the media in a political program, for the moment the communicator, who trained as a Psychologist and communication, remains working in a state institution in the area of press and communications.
