New York, United States. – The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in New York recognized Sergeant Aquilino Gonell, who bravely defended the Capitol during the insurrection of January 6, 2021.
The consul, Eligio Jáquez, stated that he felt “proud and privileged” to give recognition to a national hero who represents the Dominican Republic in the United States with dignity.
Senator Luis Sepúlveda also praised Gosnell’s bravery and dedication to his country, both during the attack on the Capitol and in his service in the Armed Forces.
Gosnell’s actions serve as an inspiration to us all and a reminder of the sacrifices made to protect our democracy.
President Joe Biden presented the nation’s second highest civilian award, the Presidential Citizens Medal, to Sergeant Aquilino Gonell, a Dominican-American police officer who bravely defended the Capitol during the insurrection of January 6, 2021.
