New York, USA. Federal officers from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Dominican Kelvin Francisco Perez at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday.
Perez is wanted in Massachusetts for the murder of Carlos E. Bello (son) during an armed robbery on January 29th.
Perez was accompanied by 17-year-old Dominican Adrian Isabel, who surrendered to authorities in Massachusetts and is also charged with the same crime.
Bello, 31, was ambushed and killed by both suspects on Haverhill street at 2:00 a.m. The authorities say, Perez, 22, was waiting for a flight to escape to the Dominican Republic after being declared a dangerous and armed fugitive.
He and Isabel reside in Lawrence, where Bello also lives. Perez faces charges of being an accomplice to murder and armed robbery in Bello’s shooting death, and he surrendered to police in Methuen on Tuesday.
Isabel is charged with being an accomplice to murder and armed robbery.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing on Wednesday in Lawrence District Court and is being held without bail.
The case is being investigated by agents assigned to the State Police Detective Unit in the Essex District Attorney’s Office and detectives from the Methuen and Lawrence police departments.
