SPAIN.– The Dominican Alfredo Ogando Uceta, a resident of the Pamplona neighborhood of Rotxapea, died on Sunday in the Landazabal polygon of Villava after receiving several knife wounds.
His body, according to family acquaintances, was laid to rest on Tuesday in a Pamplona mortuary and is now in Madrid, where final arrangements are being made for his repatriation to the Dominican Republic.
In Pamplona, the victim’s family will soon hold a mass in his memory, said a person close to the family, who said Ogando was “a very charismatic, very cheerful, very collaborative” person with all the events organized by the Dominican community.
“The Dominican community is devastated by the loss of this person, undoubtedly,” they highlighted.
About the causes that could have motivated the attack, they said that, regarding this case, which is under summary secrecy, “there is a lot of rumor,” but “it seems that the real motive was a jealousy problem.”
Regarding the alleged murderer, who has not yet been arrested, they said, “only that he is a Dominican and comes from a good family” and is a “fairly young” man, “not a conflictive person.”
For this reason, they emphasized that “there is consternation on both sides,” both in the victim’s family and the alleged murderer’s family, “and among the Dominican community in general.”
