Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and former President of the Republic, Danilo Medina, received a courtesy visit from former President Hipólito Mejía on Tuesday morning.
According to the newspaper Diario Libre, the information was provided through a statement sent by the Communications Department of the PLD, which explains that the two former presidents discussed current issues and national prospects for the new year.
“Around eleven o’clock on Tuesday morning, former President Hipólito Mejía, a high-ranking leader of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), arrived at the apartment of the Medina family in Los Cacicazgos, District National,” the note says.
It explains that Mejía was immediately received in the offices provided by the President of the PLD at his residence, sharing in an atmosphere of respect and familiarity.
“It is a visit on the occasion of the beginning of the new year,” said the PLD statement, released along with a photograph of the moment when the two former presidents shared amiably.
The PLD stated that the photograph of the meeting between Mejía and Medina was taken with reference to an image of the former President and historical leader of the PLD, Professor Juan Bosch.
Previous visit In July 2020, a month before Medina left the government, Mejía paid him a courtesy visit at the National Palace.
