Alexis Medina will be convicted at trial for accusations of alleged administrative corruption in the Antipulpo Case

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The Public Prosecutor’s Office expressed confidence on Friday that Alexis Medina Sánchez will go to trial and will be convicted for the accusations against him of alleged administrative corruption in the Antipulpo Case.

The Litigation Coordinator of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Mirna Ortiz, said that the defense has not presented “any evidence” that can contradict the evidence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to a statement from the General Prosecutor’s Office, Ortiz referred to the defense’s arguments of Alexis Medina in response to questions from the press, after the preliminary hearing that was held on Friday in the Seventh Instruction Court of the National District was concluded.

“Really, the conclusions and arguments of the defenses of Juan Alexis Medina have surprised us, and have surprised us because they stayed in the generalities,” Ortiz said.

The prosecutor insisted that “all they brought were generalities of the accusation and the big issues such as the payment of bribes in the UERS (Unit of Rural and Suburban Electrification) were not even touched by their defense, so undoubtedly, we will see ourselves in trial where he will be convicted.”

The judge Deiby Timoteo Peguero has adjourned the hearing for next Monday, starting at 9:00 am.

On Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th of January the hearing will be held from 2:00 pm and on Friday 20th of January at 9:00 am, the information specified.
