Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) announced that pre-university students must return to classrooms this Tuesday, as established by the School Calendar approved by the National Education Council (CNE).
In a press release, MINERD reminded that the School Calendar is applied after the unanimous approval of all members of the CNE, including the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), which committed to not lose a single day of class.
“The Christmas, New Year and Epiphany holidays end this Monday January 9, so the Ministry of Education calls on all parents, mothers and guardians to take their children to their respective schools on Tuesday,” it said.
It indicated that only with the cooperation of parents, mothers and teachers can the full compliance of the School Calendar be guaranteed on June 23, at all levels and modalities of the educational sector, in order to meet the 10 main priorities of the public education sector this year.
PRIORITIES FOR 2023
The agency reminded that recently, Minister Ángel Hernández presented the 10 main priorities of the Pre-university Education System for this 2023, which he affirmed aim towards timely learning, teacher training and the strengthening of the regulatory framework governing the system.
It said that the management is heading this new year towards the construction of more classrooms, especially for preschool, to hold a competition for art and technical professional monitors, and to regularize, through a credentials competition, interim directors.
In addition, MINERD will focus its efforts on the training of directors in pedagogical leadership, the equipment of polytechnics and art high schools, and the development of their own teaching books.
Other priorities are the training of first grade teachers, the creation of innovation and creativity centers at the secondary level, the strengthening of the role of center directors and the supervision of the educational process.
